I’ve had many pets in my life (our home always had animals), but the pet that truly touched my heart the most was my Aloha.
Aloha was my first pet as an adult. She came with me when I went off to veterinary school. She was my constant companion through the hard years of studying in veterinary school, moving to “the big city” for my internship, and then striking out on my own as a new veterinarian.
Aloha had so much personality – at once super sweet and endearing, but always on the look out to steal your food when you let your guard down.
Aloha was epileptic most of her life requiring daily medications and monitoring. Aloha’s health issues made me that much more sympathetic to the ordeals my clients experienced with their own pets, especially through her senior years.
Aloha was with me when I met my husband. (I trusted her instincts more than my own.) She was the “flower dog” at our wedding. She was part of the family as we welcomed our son into this world.
I was privileged to have her with me for almost 15 years. Aloha will never be forgotten.
