My first pet ever was a cute female Pug. We called her Beba, which means “baby” in Spanish. We were having difficult times back then struggling with family issues. We were all very stressed, tired and not communicating well with each other. At that time, I thought a pet would really help us forget about all these issues and start bonding with each other. Beba was very playful and needed our love and attention on a daily basis. My parents, brothers and I were spending a lot of time together as we had to feed and bathe her, take her to the vet, play with her. Before she came into our lives, we were not spending much time together. Then she became one of the main topics of conversation. How’s she feeling today? What did the vet say about her? Why is she smelling so bad? All these short daily talks helped us connect again and rely on each other. We soon started to find balance in our lives as stress faded to the background, and we were enjoying every single minute we spent together. – Daniela
