You’ve just had a tough day at the office, dealt with horrible traffic, you’re hungry and just want to plant yourself in a chair and read a book or catch a football game – and that’s all fine and dandy! Just don’t forget that while you were away your little furry pal has been waiting for you to come home. In between naps, they’ve looked out the window, listened for your car, waited for your footsteps and then, like children, they greet you at the door so excited, as if they haven’t seen you in ages!!
Take a moment to greet everyone in your family, including your pet!
It means quite a bit to them. It will also help you unwind. There’s enough studies out that prove pets reduce stress so work the tender moment in to your routine! Right when you walk through the door you should stop in your tracks, set your keys and briefcase aside, and show your pet some love. Just spending as little as 5 minutes will go a long way in making them feel good and lowering your blood pressure, reducing your anxiety, and helping you relax!
Spend some time before you say goodbye for the day!
Just as important as greeting them, make sure to give them some attention before you head off for the day! Spread some toys about the house, make sure they have fresh food and water, and spend a few minutes playing with and petting them. You’ll help shape both your pet and your mood for the day!
