One of our favorite blogs about pets shared the sweetest pet story this past week. It was about a man who adopted a pet that most might not have at home: A praying mantis he named “Bug,” which he took care of for its lifetime of 6 months. He shared a photo essay of Bug’s life and care, including details about her milestones and personality. You can almost see how much Bug loved him back in the photos, but she also stayed with him even when she had the ability to fly away. Bug sure looks as if she was more than happy with the setup as she did all of the things a healthy, normal praying mantis would do in the wild — eating bugs, shedding old skin, and of course growing. Like all praying mantis, Bug died after she laid eggs. How incredibly precious that this human took care of Bug, ensured her a happy, safe home and plenty of love.
It shows that all living things — be it furry, scaly, feathered, or any other form — respond to love, have personalities and most of all, need love and care. What an awesome story!
