While many animal lovers do not feel that use of dogs and other animals in police, military and other environments is right, a step ahead in protecting animals serving armed forces seems to be on the horizon. Inspired by the tragic death of Diesel, a military dog, during the terrorist attacks in France this past year (and for all animals who have been lost or injured in the line of duty everywhere), a new effort to provide police and military animals with body armor is underway. Until recently, many organizations did not provide this due to cost. But the new initiative has others stepping in to help. What it means for animals is greater protection against injury just as body armor protects people. Special thanks to our friends at BarkPost for sharing such a great and necessary story!
